OUR RESEARCH

Case examples: how our research makes an impact

Accident Involving DUI Hit & Run:

SITUATION

Accident involving DUI hit and run, the defendant was later apprehended. We believe their bodily injury coverage to be a minimum of $250,000 plus possible Umbrella coverage. The defendant might be associated with other addresses, but listed is the only address we have. We believe this is a personal insurance policy but it might be a commercial policy.

SOLUTION

Pacific Liability Research conducted a search of the apprehended defendant's insurance coverage and confirmed the client's suspicions of a bodily injury liability policy worth $250,000/$500,000. Also discovered was a personal Umbrella policy covering the claim, with a limit of $1,000,000.

IMPACT

In as little as one business day, results pertaining to the claim in question were found and submitted. Our client was then able to demand and negotiate a fair settlement for his injured client who was not at fault for the accident.

Tragic Single Car Crash, Resulting in Wrongful Death:

SITUATION

This is a tragic single car crash, which resulted in a wrongful death. The defendant was insured by Geico and died in the crash. We have no info on him. No CDL, no address, no date of birth.

SOLUTION

Pacific Liability Research conducted a search of the deceased defendant's insurance coverage, discovering bodily injury liability with limits of $15,000/$30,000.

IMPACT

Successful results in a timely manner allowed our client to utilize resources in as little as 6 business hours from the time he submitted his request.

Defendant Charged with Felony, Looking for his Insurance Carrier:

SITUATION

"We are looking for the insurance carrier, policy number and liability limits for the defendant who is in his thirties and lives at the address listed. He is charged with a felony for the accident on date of loss provided."

SOLUTION

Pacific Liability Research conducted a search of the defendant's assets and background, revealing an active insurance policy effective on the date of loss with bodily injury liability limits of $250,000/$500,000.

IMPACT

Using the information we obtained about the defendant and his active insurance policy, our client was able to file an injury claim on behalf of his represented injured party. Without this pertinent insurance information (i.e., carrier, policy number, and policy effective dates), the representing attorney would have had virtually no avenue to file his client's personal injury claim.

Defendant Arrested for Sexually Abusing Children at In-Home Daycare:

SITUATION

Defendant owned an in-home family daycare in operation for over 30 years. He was arrested for sexually abusing children at the daycare. Our client does not know the exact date of the abuse, but her child attended the daycare between the dates when defendant admitted to assaulting our client's child.  We are looking for any insurance policies the daycare or owners may have had that could potentially cover the sexual abuse of our client's child, and if so, what the policy limits are.

SOLUTION

Pacific Liability Research conducted a search of the defendant's assets and background, revealing an active homeowner's insurance policy effective on the estimated date of loss with bodily injury liability limits of $300,000.

IMPACT

With the information we discovered about the defendant, our client was able to file an injury claim on behalf of his represented sexual abuse victim. Evidence determined that the defendant sexually abused as many as 8 children under the age of 10 in the home while the daycare was in operation. The discovered insurance carrier accepted the claim filed on behalf of our client's abused party.

Woman Attacked by Defendant on Illicit Substance:

SITUATION

"Our client was walking down the street when she was brutally attacked by the defendant, who had taken an illicit substance in his home prior to leaving. The defendant owns multiple properties across states. We would like information on any Homeowner's insurance policies and/or Umbrella policies he possesses that could potentially cover our client's claim."

SOLUTION

Pacific Liability Research conducted a search of the defendant's assets and background to find that he owned an active Homeowner's insurance policy applicable to the date of loss.

IMPACT

Using the information we obtained about the defendant and his active insurance policy, our client was able to file an injury claim on behalf of the injured party. We provided the pertinent information to the insurance policy, i.e., the carrier, policy number, and policy effective dates allowing this to be possible.

Woman Hydroplaned & Left Roadway Due to Malfunction in Center Pivot Irrigation System of Nearby Farm:

SITUATION

"Our client was driving in the countryside when she struck a wet spot on the road, which caused her to hydroplane and roll the vehicle into a ditch. After further investigation, the road was flooded due to a malfunctioning Center Pivot Irrigation System owned by a nearby farm. We are looking to find any Homeowner's, Commercial, or Umbrella policies of the farm that were active on the date of loss."

SOLUTION

Pacific Liability Research conducted a search of the commercial defendant's assets and background to discover a Personal insurance policy with the owner of the farm listed as policyholder. This policy contained a liability limit of $1,000,000 effective on the date of loss.

IMPACT

With the information we discovered about the commercial defendant, we were able to provide our client with the insurance carrier, policy number, and policy effective dates of an applicable insurance policy in effect on the date of loss. This allowed the victim's representing attorney to file a claim on her behalf, increasing the likelihood of a fair settlement for her injuries.
